Attitude of Gratitude
It's a beautiful experience to remember sweet memories with my children but this is remembering a great 'anecdotal' with my youngest child Lysette. You see, I can't remember what grade year in school she was in, but I want to say it could have been in her Kinder, First, Second, or maybe even Third elementary school year.
She came home upset one evening because someone kept taking her crayons and or markers, and it bothered her. I remember telling her to tell her teacher and her reply astounded me. I clearly remember she said her teacher told her she 'HAD' to share her personal school supplies and personal items and I got infuriated.
We work hard for what we have and we don't just don't hand out our personal items or lend them to ungrateful people. I told Lysette, you don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with, I made sure she told her teacher and teacher aid at her school, that LYSETTE doesn't have to share if she doesn't want to.
I'm glad Lysette listened to me and she established her boundaries. Children need to learn to be respected, respect others, and respect personal and private property. Yes, we share a common playground but you don't take from another what doesn't belong to you, and just because an adult says it's okay it's not so entirely if the child and the parent of the child are not okay with such disrespect!
However, my little baby earned her brownie points, and her Independence that day. I didn't know I was homeschooling simultaneously her daddy too... Hahahahaha... That Joker is one tough cookie Hahahaha... He's another one I made sure he didn't just hand out his privileges and entitlements that he's worked so hard for as he served in the Armed Forces. If people want an Army Logo, get enlisted!! <3 Love you guys!!
Love, MOM
